Why You Need An Immigration Attorney

If you want to come to the U.S., either as a permanent resident or to become a citizen, you must work your way through the U.S. Immigration system. Immigration law is very complex and technical. If you make a mistake or fail to supply the correct document, your application can be rejected, and you may have to begin the entire process from the beginning.

The process is slow and expensive. You want to be successful on your first application. To do that, you need an immigration attorney. At The Law Office of Jorge Macias P.C., I can help. I am an immigrant myself. This means that I understand your experience, and know the challenges and stresses you face. I am an experienced immigration lawyer and I spend much of my time working on immigration matters.

Immigration: Volatile And Uncertain

Immigration law is especially complex because it is a combination of statutes, created by the U.S. Congress, regulations created by agencies like the Department Of Homeland Security and its underlying agencies, like U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). And there are the courts, both the administrative level within the agency and the federal courts outside the agency. It is also very political, meaning it is volatile and uncertain, as new regulations and interpretations can appear at any time.

Time Consuming And Technical

The process can be very time consuming. You have probably never experienced such a complex process. If English is not your first language the requirements can seem bewildering.

What I mean by technical is that there are numerous requirements, factors and elements to virtually every immigration procedure. Some requirements are “and,” meaning you must fulfill every element. Others are “or,” meaning you must fulfill some of the elements.

A single missing element or incorrect filing can lead to a rejection of the application, and force you to start over or in more severe cases, could lead to deportation. If this happens after you are two or three years into an application, it can be heartbreaking.

I work to prevent these types of delays from happening because I have done this many times. I know the procedures, I know what USCIS is looking for and what they expect. This experience is invaluable when dealing with a complex system like the immigration and naturalization process in the U.S.

I Help You Make Sound Decisions

Because of my experience, I can explain the law, what you need to do in order to have a successful application, and I can explain your options. This allows you to make informed decisions and ensures that the results we obtain are truly your goals.
